Ila Upchurch McSpadden, age 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at a local hospital with friends and extended family at her side. She was a resident of the Lewis Chapel Mountain Community in Bledsoe County. She was a member of Dunlap First Baptist Church and The Upper Room Sunday School Class. She was born April 6, 1923 in Rosalie, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John McSpadden of Lewis Chapel; parents, Frank and Della Upchurch; two brothers, Granville and Frank, Fort Payne, AL; three sisters, Laurie Campbell, Jackson, SC, Jean Murphy, Umatilla, FL, and Marcelene Lang, Houston, TX.
She is survived by nieces, Ellen Bounds, Umatilla, FL, Rabonne Shears and Shirley Helms, N Augusta, SC, and Ann Coleman, CO.
The family wishes to pay thanks to Kevin Boles and Craig Harrison for their care and Anna Faye Heard for her assistance.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. CDT at First Baptist Church of Dunlap with Reverends Jeremy Byrd and Randy Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to First Baptist Church of Dunlap. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap. Family will receive friends Friday 5:00-8:00 p.m. CDT at the funeral home and one hour before the services at the church.
