Obituary of Harry Douglas Wagner

Dr. Harry D. Wagner, age 76, passed away June 28th at his home in Murfreesboro after an extended illness. Dr. Wagner was a teacher and coach at Sequatchie High School, a professor and administrator at MTSU, president of Martin College, president of Motlow College and president of Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He was active in community affairs, the Methodist Church, and an avid fisherman. Some say he was the best smallmouth bass fisherman in the area. He received his bachelor’s degree from TN Technological Univ., a masters from the Univ of TN and his doctor of education from George Peabody College. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Susie Wagner and brother Don Wagner. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Wilson Wagner, children Rene (Rick) Francis, Maribeth (Joe) Hagan, and Patti (Doug) Daws; brother George (Joyce) Wagner; sister Peggy (Edward) Kelly and grandchildren Nancy and Clay Francis, Molly and Jade Hagan and Caroline and Joseph Daws. Graveside services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. CDT at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
