Obituary of Harry Hudson

Harry Nelson Hudson, age 81, passed away on April 10, 2008 at his home in Powells Crossroads, TN. Except for his military service he was a life long resident of Marion County.
He was born on July 25, 1926 and was both a 50 year member of New Hope Lodge #563 F&AM, a member of the VFW for more than 50 years and a avid hunter. Mr. Hudson, volunteered for the Army Air Force in 1944 at the early age of 18. He proudly served his country as a radio operator and flew in B-17, B-24, and B-25 bombers. He served in Europe for three years at the end of World War II as part of the military force that assisted in the reconstruction of the European Nations, particularly Germany and Italy.
After the war Mr. Hudson returned home to Marion County where he opened and operated Harry Hudson's Garage in Powells Crossroads for over 22 years. He then was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for 24 years, for eighteen of those years he served as a equipment foreman at Widows Creek Steam Plant.
Upon retiring from TVA, Mr. Hudson returned to the family farm which was purchased in 1870 by his grandfather. He happily spent the remainder of his retirement working on the farm.
Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Fletcher Hudson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Katherine Raines Hudson; two sons, Gregory Nelson Hudson, and Kenneth Raines Hudson, and a grandson Scott Hudson.
Services will be Saturday 11:00 am CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Cecil Baxter officiating. The burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery.
