James Howard Rogers, age 89 of Whitwell, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Valley View Assisted Living after many years with Alzheimer's disease. He served in the U. S. Army, 272nd Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. He was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by wife of sixty-four years; Dorothy Hudson Rogers; parents Henry and Minnie Sartain Rogers; sisters Hulda Cox, Forestine (Peanut) Lyda; Willie (Dib) Davis, brothers Jack, Charles, Robert, and Homer Rogers.
Survivors include daughter Christie (Wayne) Walker, Ooltewah; son Ronnie (Deborah) Rogers, Soddy-Daisy; grandsons Shane (Kristin) and Casey Curtis, Justin Walker; great-grandchildren Trinity and Gaige;sister Faye Gholston, Whitwell.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers and nurses at Valley View Assisted Living in Whitwell. Also, the Amedisys nurses and caregivers to all who gave so much kindness, love, and patience to our Dad during his stay. They are a very special group, Angels placed here on earth.
Service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am CDT in the funeral home chapel with burial in Red Hill Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
