Obituary of Alvin Ray Johnson

Alvin Ray Johnson, age 80, of Dunlap, TN went to be with the Lord after a lingering illness on March 27, 2008. He died while in the loving care of the folks at NHC of Dunlap with his wife and daughter by his side. He was of the Baptist Faith and taught Sunday School and served as treasurer at Ewtonville Baptist Church for many years. He also led the RA'S (Royal Ambassadors for Christ) and coached the first original Dixie Youth baseball team in Dunlap. He worked for more than 30 years at Johnson Oil Company and was veteran of the Korean War. Upon retirement he enjoyed his flower/vegetable gardening and avid birdwatching. Through all his sickness he never lost his sense of humor and loved making others laugh.
He was preceded in death by parents, George O and Minnie Ewton Johnson; brother, Lyndal Johnson and sister, Reatha Wilbur.
Survivors include wife, Danelle Johnson of Dunlap; daughter, Dani (Chris) Harvey; beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Bryson and Lauren Harvey all of Kingsville, TX; sister, Thelma Johnson of Dunlap; one nephew and five nieces.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Camp Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. CDT. Condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com.
