James E. Layne, age 79, of South Pittsburgh, TN, formerly of Dunlap, died Thursday night, May 2, 2013 at Grandview Medical Center. He was a member of Bible Church of God. He was preceded in death by parents, Gifford and Ruby Layne; sisters, Fredia Jo Layne, Adeline Scott, Marie Davis and Frances Laymon; brothers, Wayne Brenen Layne, Floyd Layne & Samuel Loyd Layne.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Russell, South Pittsburg, Annette Layne, Bridgeport, AL, and Marie Tomlin, Dover, TN; four grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Bill Layne; sisters, Maudie Jones, Denver, CO, Elizabeth Huggins, Soddy-Daisy; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon Coffman and Rev. Don Layne officiating. Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the funeral home for burial expenses. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap. Family will receive friends Saturday 2:00-9:00 p.m. CDT.
