Oren Booth Wooden, age 80 of Pikeville, died Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born February 9, 1932 in Safety Harbor, Florida in the middle of an orange grove. Oren has been a resident of Bledsoe County since he and his family moved here at the age of nine. He was a life long farmer and the owner of Wooden's Apple House on Dayton Mountain. Oren had a passion for growing apples for all of his customers, some of who became life long friends. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents H. C. Wooden and Orene Booth Wooden; sons Mitchell and Jackie Dwayne Wooden; brother Clements Wooden; grandson Michael Cole Green.
Survivors include loving wife of forty-eight years Nonivee Wooden; daughters Judith (Lonnie) Frazier, Ooltewah; Anne (Freddie) Ricketts, Hixson; Sheila Prater, Pikeville; Carole (Chubby) Smith, Pikeville, and Sandy (Mark) Burnett, Pikeville; grandchildren Sacha Kelley, Brannon Prater, Lonna McAllister, Candace Smith, Cara Roberson, Marcus Burnett, Chase Green, Cain Burnett, and Kate Burnett; great-grandchildren Taylor Sussdorf, Ashley, Michael, Gavin, and Emma Kelley, Justin, Jared,and Peyton McAllister; Charles Oren Roberson; god-son James Jr. Wooden, cousin Emma Jean White and Dwayne Gravett who was like a son.
Service will be Sunday at 2:00pm CST in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tom Swafford, Bro. Jeff Swafford, and Bro. Jimmy Jewell officiating. Burial will be in Rigsby Cemetery. Visitation Saturday 3-9 pm CST.
