Dr. John L. Wilhoit, Jr. age 83 of Dunlap, TN died Saturday January 5, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center. He was a member of the Dunlap First Baptist Church. He served as a First Lieutenant Army Air Force Pilot during WWII where he flew missions in the Pacific Theatre. Dr. Wilhoit practiced dentistry in Dunlap for 37 years. He volunteered at Siskin Hospital. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Bledsoe Telephone Coop for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Wilhoit, Sr; mother, Mary Ruth Brown Wilhoit; sister, Margaret Wilhoit Sanner. Survived by his children, John L Wilhoit, III, Pikeville, Kathy (Rick) Cagle, Chattanooga; grandchildren; former wife, Helen Mullis Beckham Wilhoit, Hawthorne, FL; sisters, Mary Wilhoit Wilkey, Chattanooga, Sarah Wilhoit Burkholder, Germantown, MD, Martha Wilhoit Franklin Tallahasee, FL. Funeral service will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. CST.
