John Garfield Roe, age 66, of the Lusk Community in Bledsoe, TN, left this earthly home for his eternal home Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. He retired after 45 years with Provident, Provident General, NWNL, Gieco, Merastar, Prudential and Unitrin Direct collectively. He was also a Deacon at Ewtonville Baptist Church and Charter Member of Sequatchie Valley Camp of the Gideons International. He was preceded in death by son, Duane Jeffrey Roe and brother, Christopher Mark Roe.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Harwood Roe; son, Cotton (Denise) Roe; daughter, Sabrina (Dwight) Blevins. He was "Poppaw" to Anthony and Brandon (Jenni) Blevins, Houston, Sarah, William and Jacob Roe and great-grandson Logan Lee Blevins; parents, Charles and Jessie Roe of Pisgah Forest, NC; brothers, Charles G. Roe, Costa Mesa, CA, Thomas S. Roe, Pisgah Forest, NC; sister, Billie P. Bazley, Brevard, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Buddy Strickland and Rev. Brian Kearns officiating. Burial will be in Collier Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers, Love Sunday School Class, Deacons of Ewtonville Baptist Church, and Gideons and Auxiliary Members. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
