Obituary of David Anthony Mills

David Mills, age 77, of Pikeville, TN, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. David was a lifelong resident of Bledsoe County. He graduated BCHS in 1963 and received a football scholarship to UT Chattanooga. David was a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church of Christ. He was a 3rd generation water well driller of residential and commercial wells and was licensed in three states. In addition to being a great provider for his family, David was an avid golfer (in his younger years). He also enjoyed sightseeing with his wife, (Cade’s Cove was a favorite place), bird watching (especially tracking the sandhill cranes) and mowing his lawn (who knew that was so relaxing for him?). He loved pretty colors, and enjoyed all the flowers his wife planted. David also watched FOX News daily (Tucker was his favorite). David was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel S. and Irene (Owensby) Mills; brother, Milton Mills, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Eugene Pendergrass. Awaiting patiently to see him again are his wife of 60 years, Nina J. Mills; children, Donna Mills, Andy (Renee) Mills, Chris (Ginger) Mills and JJ (Deanna) Mills; grandchildren, Collen (Sarah) Mills, Sammantha (Zach) Coley, Samuel (Jessica Green) Mills, Mason (Tabatha Bickford) Mills, Paige (Dylan McDowell) Mills, Sarah (Barker) Vaughn, Marie Mills and Lil’a (Laura Campbell) Mills; and his baseball team of great-grands, Adalyn, Reece and Ivey Grace Mills, Abel and Emmett Coley and Aiden, Dean, Oliver and Dexter Vaughn; brothers, James (Jane) Mills and Dennis (Kathy) Mills; sisters, Judy Roberts and Anna Pendergrass; andsister-in-law, Billie Mills. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Cecil VanWinkle officiating. Burial will be in Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. CDT and Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT.
