Harold Gene Heard, age 76, life long resident of Dunlap, TN, went home to be with the Lord March 7, 2012. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Dunlap where he served on many committees and a long time deacon and at present time serving as Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Chattanooga and served as Chaplain for the Sequatchie Valley Scottish Rite Club before his health prevented it. He was a member of Dunlap Lodge # 693 F. & A.M. He was also a long time member of American Legion Post 190. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 31 years and did plumbing and handyman jobs around town with his brother Carl which he really enjoyed. He adored his daughters & grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Judd & Velma Heard; sister, Lillian Jarrell; brothers, Charles, Carl & Raymond Heard. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Anna Faye Heard; two daughters, Valarie Swafford, Soddy Daisy & Erika ( Dr. Landon) Greer, Dunlap, grandchildren, Christian & Nick Swafford, Soddy Daisy, TN, Amelia & Lily Greer, Dunlap; sisters, Bobbie Blake, Hixson, Sandra (Burton) Leuty, Hixson, Vivian (Jim) Long, Orlando, FL, Wanda (Tommy) Runyon, Soddy Daisy; brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Heard, Hixson and Larry (Nancy) Heard, Calhoun, GA; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00 pm CST at First Baptist Church Dunlap with Rev. Tom Gholson & Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Burial will be in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap. Family will receive friends Friday 2:00-8:00 pm CST at First Baptist Church Dunlap and 10:00 am until service time on Saturday.
