Obituary of Helen B Simmons

Helen “Mama Helen” Brown Simmons, age 91, of Pikeville, TN, passed away, Sunday, September 13, 2020. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eston Simmons; parents, J and Fannie Crawford Brown; brothers, J Brown, Jr., Gordon Brown, Robert Brown, Johnnie Brown, Willard Brown, Landon Brown and I.E. Brown; sisters, Ollie Wade, Mary Brown, Barbara Detweiler, Pauline Edmonds and Martha Lou DeBord; and daughter, Francis Holloway. Survivors include her son, Charles Simmons of Knoxville; daughters, Fannie (Michael) Oakes, Reta (Randy) Lewis and Elaine Sisco, all of Pikeville; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Akins Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Evans and Rev. Steve Haston officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. CDT and Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT.
