Obituary of LaVerne Welch Swafford

LaVerne Welch Swafford, age 88, of Pikeville, TN, died August 1, 2020. She was a member of Pikeville United Methodist Church. She was a teacher’s assistant in the Bledsoe County School System and a great supporter of the March of Dimes. She enjoyed gardening her roses, watching the birds, the great outdoors and blue grass music. She was preceded in death by her son, James Campbell; parents, Harold E. Welch, Sr. and Beatrice Welch; and brothers, Johnny Welch and Harold Welch, Jr.. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bratch Swafford of Pikeville; children, Carolyn Holloway, Bratch W. “Bubba” (Lehron) Swafford and Jerry (Wilma) Swafford, all of Pikeville; grandchildren, Toni Lee Hanna, Siobhan (Drew) McMurray, Wilson (Kayla) Swafford, Jazzmane (Joel) Holland and Jerry “Bro” Swafford; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, Robert Welch; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Leroy Troy. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Greg Smart officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2020 from 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. CDT.
