Obituary of Peter Joseph Wotowiec
Dr. Peter J. Wotowiec, age 82, died Sunday, March 25, 2018.
He was an educator at Ohio State University. He had a Bachelors in Horticulture, Masters in Agriculture and a Doctorate in Vocational Education. He excelled in business ventures and as an educator. He also enjoyed hiking, photography, woodworking, traveling and building (carpentry). He traveled extensively doing volunteer agricultural joint projects with his wife, Christine. They went to Romania, Egypt, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kyrgyzstan, Guyana, Azerbaijan, Country of Georgia, Jamaica as well as personal travels to Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, all throughout the US, including Alaska. He has earned many awards and has articles and works published. He and his wife are Frank Pace Award Winners for a Hydroponic Greenhouse project in Cairo, Egypt.
He was a member of Pikeville United Methodist Church and has been faithful by serving as Trustee Chair and Administrative Council Chair as well as teaching Sunday School to the youth for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Wotowiec.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christine Wotowiec; four children, Peter J. (Trish) Wotowiec, Jr., Michael (Kathy) Wotowiec, Linda (Brian) Phillips and Lisa (Van) West; two step-children, Todd (Melisa) Cotsman and Shelly Cotsman (Tommy) Baltic; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Marilyn) Wotowiec and John (Judy) Wotowiec.
A memorial service will be held at Pikeville United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. CDT with Rev. Greg Smart officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Pikeville United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 233, Pikeville, TN 37367. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com.
