Malcolm Joseph Burgess, age 73, of Dunlap, TN, died Friday, January 7, 2011. He was a member of the Hopewell Road Baptist Church. He served as a Military Policeman during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Ida Burgess Smith, Jewell Burgess Shrader, Hazel Burgess Gough, James William Burgess, Beluah Burgess Prigmore, Julia Ann Burgess Peters, Marie Burgess Smith, J.D. Burgess, J.A. Burgess, Josey Burgess and Vincent Burgess.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Burgess; three sons, Barry Lee, Mikel Joseph, both of Dunlap, Robert Allen (Shelley) Burgess, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Trevor, Chelsea, Marissa, Brody, Bentley, Sloane, Deklan, Lachlan Burgess; sister, Melba Jean Burgess Roberts, brothers, Sib Burgess Jr., Lancing, TN and Mitchell Douglas Burgess, San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Boston officiating. Burial will be in the Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
