Roscoe George Putnam, 51, born October 4, 1957, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2009. He was the son of the late Jack H. and Marietta Putnam of Pikeville, TN. George leaves behind his loving wife, Sonyia Turner Putnam; children Marietta and Jackson Putnam of Pikeville; brother Jack H. (Peggy) Putnam, Jr. of Maryville, TN; sister Nancy (Tommy) Siever of Pikeville; nephews Thomas Siever of Cookeville, TN and William Siever of Hixson, TN. Also nephews Christopher, Patrick, Alan, Chandler and Zane; nieces, Brooke, Mallory and Kailey; several cousins. To our husband, father, brother and friend, we love you so very much an you will always be in our heart. You are finally at peace. George was part of the 1975 graduating class of Bledsoe County High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Roscoe was employed at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant beginning as an Assistant Unit Operator, to Reactor Operator, to Senior Reactor Operator, to Senior Reactor Operator Instructor. He received a distinguishing award for his integrity and dedication of 28 years of faithful service. He was a member of West End Church of God where he served as an elder and church clerk for 18 years. George spent time with the Mt. Crest Volunteer Fire Department where he was a chaplain. George enjoyed the fellowship of friends and the beauty of nature from the seat of his favorite Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00 pm CDT at West End Church of God on Sunday, September 13, 2009 with a celebration of life service to begin at 5:00 CDT. The family wishes to express many thanks to his doctors, nurses and Hospice of Chattanooga.
