Obituary of James Elmer Vandergriff

James E. Vandergriff, 74, of Whitwell, TN, died Friday, March 10, 2017, in a local hospital. He was of the Church of God Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spearman and Ella Smith Vandergriff; brothers, Lloyd and Ray Vandergriff; sisters, Bertha Witt, Shirley Worley, Ruth James, and ImaJean and OmaJean Vandergriff.
James leaves his wife of 50 years, Pearlie; sons, Dwight, Larry (Mary), and Joe (Paige) Vandergriff; daughters, Melinda Vandergriff and Melissa Vandergriff Dodson; grandchildren, Johnathan, Jacob, and Bethany Green, Madison Harvey, Rebecca, Breianna, Wesley, Cody, Austyn, Camdyn, and Alicia Vandergriff; sisters Peggy (Danny) Jones, Sue Campus, and Doris Vandergriff; brothers, Dave, Eddie, Vernon, and Brady Vandergriff to cherish his memory. The family like to give a special thanks to nephew Steve Turner, for his help during their time of need.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. CST from the funeral home chapel, with Brothers Rab Ramsey, Jerry Basham, and Chris Long officiating. Burial will follow in Whitwell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 12, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday, March 13, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. CST.
