Lena Rose Earvin was born September 16, 1927, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Sam Swafford in Pikeville, Tennessee. She made her journey to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Lena Rose was a long time employee of Hooper Funeral Home. A member of Whitwell Church of Christ, she enjoyed attending and participating in church services until her health began to fail, moving to Hollywood, Alabama to be closer to her daughters. She loved spending time with family, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Lena Rose dearly loved her family, church family and friends. She was always willing to help and serve whomever, whenever she could. Her sweet soul will truly be missed my all she knew and met.
She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Earvin; son, James K. Earvin; daughter, Patricia A. Earvin; sisters, Margaret Chavis, Eva Roberson, Mabel Thompson and brother Coker L. Swafford.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Rose (Jerry) Washington of Hollywood, AL. and Cheryl E. Poe of Huntsville, AL. Daughter-in-law Linda Earvin of Chattanooga, Tn.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 21 great great-grandchildren; Special niece Pricilla Paschal-Murphy; Honorary family Joe (Tracey) Hooper, DuWane (Myra) Hooper, Gary (Deb) Hooper; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. CST with Minister Adam Boggess officiating. Burial will follow at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery.
