Obituary of Leslie Ray Higdon

Leslie Ray "Pete" Higdon, Sr., age 68, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Sunday morning, October 16, 2016. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the United States Army. He retired from TDOT after over 30 years, was Santa Claus for the community for over 20 years and put up Christmas lights for over 25 years for everyone to enjoy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Sue Arnold May; step-mother, Mary Lee Higdon; sister, Billie Sue Higdon Layne; nephew, Richard Layne.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene Higdon; father, Leslie "Sonny" Higdon; two daughters, Tammie Renee Higdon (Peanut) Easterly and Marsha Darlene (Scotty) Brock; son, Leslie Ray "Tater" Higdon, Jr., all of Dunlap; five grandchildren, John Leslie, Jimmy Martin, Destiny Renee Easterly, Katie Darlene and James Yancey Brock; sister, Edwina (Joe) Raines; brother, Bobby Dyrl (Tennie) Higdon, all of Dunlap; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Burial in Bryant Cemetery with military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
