Jimmy Ray Pope, age 71, of Pikeville, TN, died at his home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning August, 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Bledsoe County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nellie Pope; two brothers, Billy (Jean) Pope and Bobby Hatfield; one sister, Barbara (Cecil) Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Pope; daughter, Michelle (Richard) Harvey of Pikeville; son, Mynatt (Felicia) Pope of Dunlap; brothers, Don ( Doris) Pope and Reuben (Ina Ruth) Pope both of Dunlap; sister-in-law Carolyn Hatfield, Dunlap; four grandchildren, Chasi Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Lexi Pope all of Dunlap, Lashay Harvey, Pikeville; one great-granddaughter Sarah Sims, Dunlap; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Virgil Powell, Rev. Bill Cross and Rev. Bill Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in the Collier Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. CDT.
