Doris Leona Atterton, age 88, of Whitwell, TN, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at her home. She was a member of Cartwright Church of God, and was a foster parent for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George "Tom" Atterton; son, Michael McGowan; one brother; four sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Doris (Gene) Bradford, Dunlap, and Debby (Ray) Bunn, Dayton; sons, Jackie McGowan, Whitwell, Kelly (Cathy) Cox, Waskom, TX, Dennis Atterton, Dunlap, and Danny (Gloria) Atterton, Whitwell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Donnie Lawson officiating. Burial in Kilgore Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell. Family will receive friends Sunday 4:00-8:00 p.m. CST.
