Samuel Hilliard Johnson, age 79, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Monday afternoon, December 21, 2015 at his home. He was a member of Welch Chapel United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for several years. He served on the Sequatchie County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 20 years and was retired from DuPont. He was also a member of the Chattanooga Racing Pigeon Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis L. and Corene Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jobynia Johnson; two sons, Randy (Pam) Johnson, Chattanooga, and Lewis (Marsha) Johnson, Dunlap; four grandchildren, Christy (Matt) Brown, Laurie Johnson, Dylan Johnson and Allie Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Brown; extended family, Myrna, Taylor (Vivian) , William (Fran), Mark (Michelle) Barker; sister-in-laws, Sadie Johnson, Ruby (Billy) Dean, Betty Sullivan, Jewell Walker, Dale Long. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. CST at Welch Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Silvers and Rev. Wayne Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Welch Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 4:00-8:00 p.m. CST and Wednesday from 9:00-11:30 a.m. CST at the funeral home. Wednesday 12:00-1:00 p.m. CST at the church before service.
