Elizabeth King Schroeder, age 68, of Dunlap, TN, Fredonia Mountain Nature Resort, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015. Elizabeth was surrounded by her immediate family and dear friends and passed away peacefully at her home. She was of the Episcopal faith. Elizabeth was born in New Orleans, LA. She spent the majority of her childhood in Pascagoula, MS, before moving and settling in New Orleans with her family. She attended Alcee Fortier High School and she also attended and graduated from the Garden District Academy in New Orleans. Elizabeth was secretary to a Federal Judge in the U.S. Federal Court, 5th District, she retired in 2010. After retirement, Elizabeth and her husband Al moved to Fredonia Mountain in Dunlap, TN. She was a talented artist and displayed works of art in the annual art show during Valley Fest. She was preceded in death by her father, T. Easton King; mother, Irene King; husband, Albert F. Schroeder; brother-in-law, David Fletcher, and her beloved son, Peter King Wittman.
She is survived by her sister, Susan Fletcher; niece, Deborah (John) Oberhauser, great niece, Sarah Oberhauser; great nephew, Alex Oberhauser; several step-children and her beloved dog, Lucy.
The family will hold a memorial visitation on Friday 1:00-3:00 p.m. CDT at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap. A late luncheon will be held following the visitation at the FMNR Clubhouse.
