Obituary of Glenda June Walters

Glenda Deweese Walters, age 62 of Pikeville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2011. She attended Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Norma Deweese. During Glenda's twenty-five years of nursing she was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence in Nursing and met former President Bill Clinton. She was also awarded the Tennessee Nurse of the Year and named in the Who's Who's of Medical Community of America.
Survivors include husband Derrell Walters, Pikeville; Glenice (Michael) McKenzie, Atoka; son Anthony Walters, Pikeville; stepsons Derrell Walters, Jr. and Stan Walters; two grandchildren Nicholas and Christian McKenzie; seven step-grandchildren; sister Pat (Wayne) Sullivan, Sparta; two brothers Leon (Judy) Deweese, Pikeville and John (Minnie) Deweese, Pikeville; several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2:00 pm CDT Sunday at Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Blankenship Cemetery. Visitation will start after 10:00 am CDT Saturday at the church.
