Mary Etta Smith, age 73 of Pikeville, died Saturday, April 23, 2011. She was of the church of God faith and one of the founders of the Headstart program in Bledsoe County. Mary Etta was preceded in death by parents Ernest Brown and Lillie Mae Johnson; sisters Juanita Casper, Imogene May, Lucille Coffelt; brothers Gordon, J. L. and Bill Johnson.
Survivors include husband of fifty-six years Harley "Pete" Smith; three daughters Patricia Wooden, Pikeville; Polly Smith, Dunlap; Diane (Gary) Bickford, Pikeville; three sons Kenny (Lorie) Smith, Spencer; Keith (Lori) Smith, Pikeville; Denny (Leonda) Smith, Pikeville; nine grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; five sisters Ann Wilson, Al.; Jo Graham and Ruby (Larry) Truman, Ohio; Devota (Jonny) Debney, Pikeville; Hazel (Jerry) Holland, Dunlap; sister-in-law Lucille Johnson, Pikeville; aunt Fronie Hennessee, Spencer; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 12:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bros. Wendell Harris, Donnie Cox, James Daggett officiating. Burial will be in Cagle Cemetery.
