James "Ricky" Smith, age 68, of Pikeville, TN, died Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He worked as a coal miner for many years and he was a welder at Suburban Manufacturing where he retired. He liked to coon hunt and fish and loved his roosters. He always had livestock. He loved UT football. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Smith and Alice Blackburn; two brothers, W.K. Smith and Jerry Smith; grandparents, Kenneth and Cora Fisher and Will and Rebecca Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Misty Blackstone of Oxford, AL and Christy (David) Rodgers of Ohatchee, AL; grandchildren, Brooklee, Destanee and Zeta Coffee of Ohatchee, AL, Daniel and Mason Blackstone of Oxford, AL; great-grandson, Layden O'Quinn; sisters, Ann (Clyde) Ragsdale of Crossville, TN and Janie Oskin of Madison, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. CDT and Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. CDT.
