Carolyn Shirley Richards Boyd, age 82, of Dunlap, TN passed away May 20, 2021 at her home. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Whitwell. Carolyn was born in Whitwell, TN and was a 1956 graduate of Whitwell High School and 1986 graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. A TVA retiree with 32 years of service. Carolyn had an amazing love of life and people and she embraced both with an adventurous spirit. The world was a brighter place because of her and now she shines in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Ottis Shirley; husband, Jack L. Boyd.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Shirley, Whitwell; daughter, Jamie Morgan, Dunlap; son-in-law, Michael Morgan, Dunlap; sister, Teresa Ford, Whitwell; brother-in-law, Bill Ford, Whitwell; nephew, Greg Ford, Laura Ford and great-niece, Emma, of Kimball; niece, Julie Phares, Charles Phares and great-niece, Brooke, of Seattle; nephew, Scotty Hudson, and great-niece, Laurel, of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike King and Rev. Bill Stuart officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Donations can be made to American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors Project. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN. Family will receive friends, Tuesday 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. CDT.
