Miss Oma Estell Griffith, age 89, of the Griffith Creek Community near Whitwell passed away Wednesday December 7, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital. She was retired from the Marion County Board of Education having taught at Griffith Creek Elementary for most of her career.
Miss Oma was preceded in death by her parents; Albert and Maude Griffith, sister, Avis Worley and a brother Arnold (Cotton) Griffith. She is survived by one brother Elbert Griffith , five sisters, Ollie Tate, Olus Scissom, Mary A. Scissom, Martha Kilgore, and Ivan Levan all of Whitwell, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be Friday at 10:00 am CST in the funeral home chapel with the burial in Griffith Creek Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell, TN. Family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-9:00 pm CST.
