  J.D. Angel, age 78, of Pikeville, TN died Thursday, April 12, 2018.

 He attended Whole Armor Full Gospel Church and many other churches over the years.  He was a disc jockey at WUAT for 30 years.  He was a musician and played on the Grand Ole Opry when he was six years old.  He custom-made petal steel guitars and amplifiers.  He was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

 

  He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 1/2 years, Doris Angel; father, Homer David Angel; mother, Ida May Angel; and sisters, Eula May Angel, Alene Jennings and Dorothy Brock.

 

  He is survived by his children, Cindy (Randy) Smith of Pikeville; Tina (Gary) Cross of Crossville, and Rebecca (Mark) Brisbay of GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Ilene) Angel of Crossville, sister, Margaret Fann of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.

 

  Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Elmer Blaylock and Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Iron Hill Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. CDT.
