Spc. Joshua Aaron "Red" Meeks, age 21, of Whitwell, TN died Saturday night November 13, 2010 at his home. He was a member of the Haverns Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard Unit 252 as a combat Military Police Officer and worked as a sheriff's deputy for the Bledsoe County Sheriff's Department. He was preceded in death by his Maternal grandfather George Spencer Lane; paternal grandfather Homer Meeks; grandfather Lee Roy Yell. He is survived by his wife Kimberly Annette Meeks; Parents DeAnna Lane Meeks, Whitwell and William Allen Meeks, Tracy City; three brothers Jocob (Tiffany) and Jeramiah (Brandi) Meeks and Jackie Jo Guy II all of Whitwell; sister Tabitha "Battle Buddy" Higgins maternal grandmother Martha "Mee Maw" Lane, Whitwell; paternal grandmother JoAnn Lockhart Meeks; Tracy City and grandmother Nana Jane Yell, Whitwell; niece Sophie G. Meeks; aunts Elizabeth (Jeff) Lane, Chattanooga and Roxann Green, Tracy City; uncle Rusty Meeks, Tracy City, uncles and aunt David and Loretta Lea; great-uncles Preston (Carolyn) Cates, Dunlap, Robert Y. (Donna) Lane, Whitwell; great aunt Sonya Pickett, Whitwell; mother-in-law Alberta Walker, Whitwell; bothers-in-law Mark (Stalina) Michaels, Baily Nunley, Landon, Brandon and Dylan Walker; several cousins, Military brothers and sisters and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday 1:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Diehel and Rev. Tony Cates officiating. Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with Military honors. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, Whitwell, TN.
