Lowell H. Soderstrom, age 82 of Sparta, TN., died Monday, August 23, 2010. Lowell was born December 6, 1927 in Clearwater County, MN., and was a graduate of Bagley High School in Bagley, Minnesota. He worked as a printer for over forty years, working in St. Paul, Bagley, Mahnoman, Bemidji, and Park Rapids MN.; also Fairbanks, Alaska, Wise Rapids, Wisc, Knoxville News Sentinel, and Nashville Tennessean/Banner News. He joined the International Typegraphical Union and was a member for twenty-five years. Lowell liked fishing, hunting, playing guitar and accordian, and playing country-western swing, old time schotiches waltzes and polkas. He liked flying his airplane in his younger days. He was in the U. S. Army 1950-1952 during the Korean conflict stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, near Anchorage and belonged to So. Knoxville Masonic Lodge-Knoxville, TN. Lowell was of United Methodist faith.
Preceding him in death was his mother Amy Runnestrand Soderstrom and father Hubert V. and stepmother Niamy (Fors) Soderstrom.
Lowell is survived by his family who will cherish loving memories forever including wife, Martha S. Sapp Soderstrom; daughters Vickie L.(Donnie) Clark, and Sandy (Curtis) Claibourne; twin sons Kenneth W. (Becky) and Glenn D. (Germa) Soderstrom; seven grandchildren Callie Clark McKendree, Jesse Soderstrom, Jet Soderstrom, Michael Wilson,
Kevin W. Soderstrom, Lee and Chelsea Claibourne; one brother Billy (Donna) Soderstrom; sister Delma McClain; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Service will be Thursday at 1:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with burial following at Blackburn Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
