Obituary of Caulie Walker Rothwell

Caulie Walker Rothwell, age 80 of Pikeville, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Caulie's working career included owner of Rothwell's Cash Grocery, 38 years at Suburban Manufacturing in Dayton, and a local farmer. He was a life-long resident of Summer City community and a member of the Summer City Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Walter Rothwell and his mother Nellie Gooch Rothwell; brothers Harold Rothwell, James Rothwell, Clarence Rothwell; sister Ruth Swafford.
Caulie, a devoted husband, father, and friend, is survived by his wife of 59 years Anna Ruth Swafford Rothwell. Caulie was the loving father of five daughters, Sheila Tallant, Linda Summers, Kathy Anderson and Robbin Rothwell of Pikeville and Lisa Rice of Athens. Caulie also had four sons-in-law, Chadwick Tallant, Roger Anderson, Wayne Gassaway and Boby Rice. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren Patrick Everett, Kelly Summers Hughey, Dylan Roberson, Courtney Anderson, Laura Osnes, Jacob Cantrell, Leah Cantrell, and Jackson Robinson; seven great-grandchildren Morgan Price, Skyler Everett, Ashton Osnes, Alexander Osnes, Ella Hughey, Elijah Anderson and Ambrin Roberson; sisters Gladys Rothwell Wallace, Crossville; Ruby Rothwell Doss, Chattanooga; Jewell Rothwell McClure, Dayton; brother Clyde Rothwell, Dayton.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gene Rice of Athens officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer City Cemetery on Summer City Road in Pikeville. Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Diabetes Foundation or Hospice of Chattanooga.
