Essie Lee Layne, age 95 of Dunlap, TN died July 8, 2010 at her home. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Layne of 63 years. Essie Lee will long be remembered for her wit, knowledge of never forgetting family birthdates, anniversaries, names of people she met as a child or just anyone she had the priviledge of knowing in her life time.
She is survived by her sisters, Eva Mae whitman, Batesburg, SC, Christine Davis, Saluda, SC; nieces, Emma Ewton and Lesha Rains her caregivers of Dunlap, also other nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Huggins.
The family would like to express appreciation to Etta Mae Hudson, Dorothy Smith and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for the care they extended to Mrs. Essie. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
Graveside service will be Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CDT at Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marvin McClendon officiating.
Arrangements by Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap. Family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00-11:45 a.m. CDT.
