Elizabeth "Betty" Scott Vogt, age 85, was born June 30, 1924 and passed away May 20, 2010 in Nashville. Betty was a graduate of LSU where she completed her education in early childhood development. She began her career in Oak Ridge, TN., where she directed a pre-school and later becama a kindergarten teacher. She left teaching upon her marriage in 1953 and began her family. She resumed her career working as both director and teacher at Mattye Jones Childcare Center in Nashville, TN. Where she worked with dedication for many years. She will be remembered by her family as a wife and mother that always gave selflessly and worked tirelessly. She was an atttentive and loving grandmother who could always come up with fun things to do. She cherished her church family at Blakemore United Methodist church where she was an active member. She was preceded in death by parents J. "Harry" Scott, Sr. and Bess Ferguson, as well as a truly extended family of numerous aunts and uncles. Also preceding her in death was her sister Berlee S. (Frank) Riordan. She is survived by loving husband George Emil Vogt; daughters Suzanne (Micheal W.) Sutton and Catherine (Chris) Hollo; sons John and David Vogt; grandchildren Jennifer Vogt, Danielle Sutton, Micheal A. Sutton Ian Hollo and Marcus Hollo; brother John H. "Scotty" (Joan) Scott; her extended family including sister-in-law Marie Vogt Kennedy as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, May 25, 1:00 pm CDT at Pikeville Cemetery with Bro Jim Douthat officiating. A memorial service will be held a Blakemore United Methodist Church on a future date.
