Bernice Oakes, age 88 of Pikeville, died Saturday, September 3, 2011. She was a charter member of Pineland Gospel Mission. Bernice was preceded in death by husband Raymond Oakes; sisters Beulah Knight and Ella Rose Miller; brothers Carl, William, and Ernest Loyd.
Survivors include daughters Rama Smith, Crossville; Lovetta (James) Howard, Pikeville; son Darvin Lee (Jennifer) Oakes, Knoxville; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother Glenn (Marion) Loyd, Pikeville; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Service will be Monday at 2:00pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Darvin Oakes and Bro. Denton Martin officiating. Burial will be in Blankenship Cemetery.
