Mauvine Jordan Brown, born January 22, 1920, the matriarch of the Brown family and last surving child of John and Cordia Jordan, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2011 at 91 years of age. She was a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club and a member of the Pikeville Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, farming, and lived a green life before green life came about. Mauvine enjoyed entering exhibits in the local fair and was always there for anyone in need. She was preceded in death by husband Clinton P. Brown; parents Cordia Mathis Jordan and John E. Jordan; son J. Lee Brown; grandson Ricky Brown; sisters Cleo McMillen, Lee Davis, Eve Whitney; brothers Carl Jordan and Bruce Jordan. Survivors include son Richard 'Dick' (Judy) Brown, Pikeville; daughter Faye B. Robertson, Crossville; son Mack (Roberta) Brown, Pikeville; and daughter Doris (Earl) Morgan, Pikeville; nine grandchildren Gina (David) Boynton, Perry Brown, Deborah Curtis, Joe Curtis, Penny Curtis, Kim (Chris) Howard, Paul (Kim) Brown, Lisa (Rocky) Evans, and Laurie C. Harris; twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Service will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Albert Roberts and Bro. James Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
